For over thirty years Horizon Community has been serving families and communities in SW Portland and beyond. We love what Jesus is doing in our lives our homes and our church family. Encouraging people to follow Jesus Christ with their whole heart is what we are about at Horizon Community Church.

LIFEgroups come in many different styles. Most are sermon-based, in which the discussions parallel the weekly sermon -- but at a deeper level, challenging us to discover fresh ways to apply God’s principles in our lives. Some groups are based on our daily Life Journal readings, and sharing what the Lord has spoken to each of us through His Word and His Holy Spirit. LIFEgroups can also involve a curriculum such as a Beth Moore Bible Study or Saddleback’s “Life’s Healing Choices.”

Often times spiritual growth happens on a “Need to know – Need to grow” basis. So it is important that we have built significant friendships BEFORE those inevitable rough seasons come into our lives. Because each person in your LIFEgroup has committed to ‘being there for one another’, a trust develops. The LIFEgroup becomes a safe place – one in which people can share at a deeper level, knowing that we all go through similar trials and that there is power in praying one another through them.

How to get involved in a LIFEgroup.

LIFEgroups are designed to make it easy for people to get to know each other and build meaningful relationships in a comfortable setting. That’s why each group has between 8 and 16 people (1 slot is 1 individual or 1 couple). Space is limited and groups are filled on a first come first in basis.

To sign up for a LIFEgroup, do the following…

Review the different groups listed in our LIFEgroup booklet.
Choose a couple of groups that seem to fit you.
Complete the sign-up form in our LIFEgroup booklet found at the Connection Center or online at the link below. Drop the completed form from the booklet off at the Connection Center in the lobby.
