WHERE DO I START?

First, take a look at the list of opportunity areas we’ve currently identified in the "Current Volunteer Opportunities" section below. See if any of the areas listed speak to your heart or catches your curiosity. In many cases we can arrange opportunities for you to shadow existing volunteers to see what it’s all about. If you’re more inclined to respond to high-priority needs, we’ve provided a list of greatest needs in the "Horizon's Top Ten Needs" section below as well.

And don’t worry about experience. If you’ve always wanted to run lighting controls or run a café service and didn’t know where to start, you’ll get training fom people who know exactly what that feeling is all about. In fact, if you sign up to serve in Children/KidZTown, you’ll never even have to change a diaper- honest! You’ll find we do everything we can to make it easy to explore the exhilaration of serving others so that everyone can experience the love of Christ in a warm and friendly environment.

Once you’ve identified areas you may be interested in, just fill out the information requested in the About You section below, click the Submit button and one of our friendly volunteer coordinators will contact you to provide specific details about opportunities in that area, answer any questions, and connect you with the people you’d be working with if you take the next step. If you prefer to just contact one of our volunteer coordinators to ask a question, just send them a quick email at serve@horizonlife.org. They’ll get back to you right away.

HORIZON’S TOP TEN NEEDS

1. Shuttle Bus Driver: Be a greeter on wheels! You may be the first contact a guest makes as they enter the Horizon campus and first impressions do make a difference! There is minimal training for these positions, requires background check and driver screening.

2. Greeters: All you need is a smile and a warm welcome that will create a lasting first impression as people arrive for our Sunday services.

3. Nursery Workers: Do you love holding and rocking babies? No experience necessary, no changing diapers, on-the-job training provided, requires application/background check.

4. Ushers: Welcome people into the sanctuary as they come in to worship. Assist people in finding seats, collect the offering and offer helpful information as needed.

5. Lighting Operator: Learn how to run the digital lighting board, create lighting scenes, and manage scene selection during services on Sundays. Getting started involves shadowing the lighting technician for 2-3 weeks before hands-on operating.

6. Pursuit (college age) ministry leaders: Ministering to and with our young adults provides us with an exciting opportunity as they transition from high school into early adulthood. Walk alongside them as they begin this new journey.

7. Media Operator: Be an instrumental part of the worship team through media. Learn how to assemble and use the various media elements for our Sunday services. You will shadow one of our operators for 1-2 weeks before hands on operating.

8. Sound Tech for KidzTown: A great place for those “techie” types! On-the-job training is provided for Easy Worship software, sound board operation and lighting control. Play a vital role in supporting the up-front action.

9. HeBrews Café Team: Become the barista you’ve always wanted to be! No experience necessary – on the job training provided. HeBrews café team serves one Sunday per month.

10. Stage Manager: Learn the ins and outs of the production aspects of supporting our worship team. Be a “runner” for the stage, help prep the stage for services, work closely with the sound tech to help manage mic’s, monitors, amps, etc.

Thank you for considering serving in these positions. These jobs are being offered as a place to get started. If you decide your first volunteer placement is not a good match, don’t worry we’ll work with you to help you find a better fit.
