Horizon Cares

At Horizon, we are all about doing life together. This means celebrating life’s victories, and comforting each other during difficult times. We’ve provided information below to better serve you!

Emergency Contact

We know that often life can be difficult and unexpected things can happen. As a church family we want to be available to walk through those tough times you might face. Whether it is the death of a loved one or an immediate medical crisis we want to be available to pray with you and provide support for you and your family. If you are facing one of those times please contact us immediately at 503.783.1218 and leave a message. A pastor will respond as soon as possible.

I need prayer.

We are here for you. You can make your prayer request known to the pastoral staff 3 ways: by calling the church office at 503.612.6688, filling out a communication card on Sunday at church, or by filling out this online request form.

I need help.

Is someone available to visit me in the hospital?

Please notify us by filling out a communication card on Sunday, sending us an email  or calling the church office at 503.612.6688. A pastor would like to come visit you and pray with you.

Can I meet with a Pastor?

Pre-marital Guidance

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Our desire is to help couples get a healthy start in their new life together. Contact the church office to setup an appointment if you are interested in being married by one of our pastors.

Meeting With a Pastor

We have caring pastors who are available to share with you regarding challenges, hurts, or other issues you may experience. Our pastors offer Christ centered, Biblical, outcome based guidance, sharing practics and truths from God’s Word in dealing with the circumstances of life. There is no charge to meet with our pastors though at times reading or other resource materials will be expected.

In our sessions we follow these steps as a guide in our process of overcoming the issues at hand:

1, We identify the issue you are facing.
2. We identify the Biblical term and/or understanding of the issue.
3. We look to the scriptures for guidance in dealing with the issue.
4. We help you discover how to apply that guidance in your life and assign homework accordingly.
5. We celebrate recovery and glorify God for His help in resolving the issues.

Please call the church office at 503.612.6688 or email us to schedule an appointment.

Life's Healing Choices

Come for a time of worship & Bible-based, gender-specific groups that deal with specific areas of need. Contact Ellen Johnson for more information.

Referrals

For professional, specialized, or long term counseling, outside the scope of the pastoral guidance we have available, we provide referral information for caring professional counselors in our area.

I would like to be baptized.

1 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Jesus instucted us to take this important step as a declaration of faith and a new life. We offer baptism services regulary in our Sunday services. Contact us for details.

I would like to dedicate my child to the Lord.

1 Samuel 1:27-28 “I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.”  Children are God’s gift to us. We offer child dedications quarterly. Contact the church office to sign up or ask when the next dedication will be taking place.

Proverbs 22: 6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Are there facilities for special occasions & services?

We try to accomodate special requests as our facility schedule allows for weddings, showers, funerals and memorials. However, due to many church and school activities, some limitations do exist. Please contact the church office with information regarding your special occasion, and we will check availability and do what we can to assist you.

How can I know God?

The decision to have a relationship with God is the greatest decision you'll ever make. If you would like to know more about the God who loves you and know Him personally, we've provided the following information to help you get you started in your walk with Christ.

My New Life: What Are My Next Steps With God?

Congratulations! You have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior. This is the greatest, wisest, best decision you have ever made. Now what happens? The next seven days can be the most important week of your life.

Just what has happened to you? That's a good question, and an important one. Knowing what happened and what it means will help you the rest of your Christian life. It happened in a church, in your home or somewhere else. Someone helped you or perhaps you were by yourself. You felt a need, learned that Jesus could help you, and you asked Him to come into your life. Now what does that mean, and where do you go from here?

The Bible

Get in the habit of reading the Bible every day. Our daily Life Journal reading is available on our home page on the box labeled Daily Bible Reading, or a booklet can be purchased for $5 at the Connection Center on Sundays or you can contact the church office. Visit New Believers and you’ll find multiple bible studies and passages to learn. These are sure to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and your knowledge of Him.

Prayer

Prayer is a conversation between you and God. Talk to Him, and let Him talk to you. Make time every day to pray.

Tell Someone

Tell others about what happened to you! Share the difference Jesus has made in your life and invite others to learn more about Him, too.

Find a Church

If you take a live coal from a fireplace and put it by itself, it will soon go out. In the same way, Christians need the encouragement of other Christians. Hearing the word of God, praying with others, singing together, building relationships with other Christians - these things will help you grow in your faith. Find a church home, we would welcome you joining us at Horizon.

Baptism

Jesus instructs us to be baptized in water. This is also an outward expression and testimony of your faith.
